Downloading and Unzipping This Site

Downloading

When you first arrived at this page, you should see something along the line of this dialog. This window is prompting you to download a file to your computer. Since the source of the file (Ecology Roof Systems) is a trusted source, click the Save button.

This will prompt you to select a location (see the dialog below) to download the file to. For the purposes of this tutorial, select your desktop and click the Save button once more.

Once the progress meter reaches 100%, you have sucessfully download the file!

UnZipping This Saved File

This step depends on what Zip software you have installed, as well as what version of Windows you are running. We'll begin with the simplest, most common method.

UnZipping with Windows XP or Windows ME
If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, Windows itself can unzip your files. To do so, right-click the file on your desktop that we downloaded earler. You will see a menu of options, much like the one below.

To unzip your files, simply left-click the Extract All option, and hit Next. That's it!

UnZipping with WinZip
WinZip is the most commonly used Zip application on the market, for both Macintosh and Windows. It can be downloaded here. It operates in the same way as windows; right-clicking the file will produce the following menu.

Select the WinZip option by hovering your mouse over it, and, when the context menu appears to the right, left-click Extract to Here. Click Unzip from the resulting dialog box, and you're done!

UnZipping with WinRAR
WinRAR is a commonly used Zip application, usually preferred by more advanced users. It can be downloaded here. It operates in the same way as Windows and WinZip; right-clicking the file will produce the following menu.

Simply left-click the Extract to ecology\ option, and you're done!

Now what?

Open the ecology folder created on your desktop by double-clicking it. If you wish to access the files directly from your desktop, simply double-click the INDEX.HTM file. If you wish to make the site mobile, drag the entire file to your CD burning software, to a jump drive, or to a flash media stick. Congratulations! You know have your very own copy of EcologyRoof.com!
